CHRIS CATES and the world of Golf Starting with childhood lessons with the legendary Joe Cheves and Dan Dobson at Mimosa Hills in Morganton, Chris Cates has been around the game of golf his entire life. His brother Bryan was a champion golfer in high school and college but Chris never felt bite of the golf the bug until he moved back to the mountains of North Carolina after six years in Athens, Georgia. Now with about 20 handicap points less and a hit golf comedy album to his name, you can say he is officially in the game. Before 'The Golf CD', Chris made a name for himself all over the world as a songwriter, performer and producer releasing an album a year since the age of 13. Several years ago Cates combined his love of golf with music, to create "Triple Bogey with 17 Holes to Play", a cd that has tickled the funny bone of golfers everywhere and has led to a new phase of Cates's career as a "golf personality". Cates has performed Carolina Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony, on radio and TV and has been a popular act at member guests, golf tournaments and special events at country clubs throughout the region. Chris and his wife Adair were also co-hosts on a golf radio show called "Speaking of Golf" ( with Tom Horan and Mrs. Speaking of Golf) in 2008 and part of 2009, talking golf with tour pros, celebrities and authors every week. Currently Cates tours in support of his many rock albums (the latest is Carolina Songs), entertains at golf tournaments, events and parties, writes and works with artists in his studio in Asheville, NC studio and co-owns Synergy Shift a multi-media motivational / self development company with his wife, author and speaker Adair Cates. He also sneaks away to play great courses like Reems Creek, Asheville Country Club as much as he can and of course as his song suggests, he'll write a song about your golf course if you let him play for free; which actually works sometimes. You can also catch Chris Cates as a guest on many sports radio and TV shows performing hits from "Triple Bogey with 17 Holes to Play".
